International Sherry Week 2016 was once again a great success for González Byass (7-13 th November) with online streamed tastings in three different languages and events held on 3 continents. International Sherry Week has become a global talking point over the last three years with 2016 reaching a total of over 2000 events in 30 countries over 5 continents. This year this week long event, dedicated to our unique oenological gems, saw a number of new and exciting events such as speed tasting, Live Facebook Q&A and venencia competitions amongst others. The perfect match this year was between the renaissance of Sherry and the visual impact of Social Media with post son Instagram, Twitter and Facebook creating a monumental buzz around Sherry Week worldwide. Following its outstanding success during International Sherry Week in 2015, González Byass, award-winning, family-owned sherry producer, played its part in Sherry Week by organising live online sherry tastings from Jerez which were joined by sherry aficionados around the world. Hosted by multi-awarding winning Master Blender Antonio Flores, exclusive on-line tastings were streamed live to Sherry lovers in London, Frankfurt, Berlin, New York, Oslo, And Santo Domingo, amongst others. In addition, this year’s tasting in German was particularly successful with Sherry tastings attracting buyers, press and consumers from all over Germany, Switzerland and Austria, resulting in over 20 tastings being organised in cities from Berlin to Vienna. The #iwsandtiopepe reached more than 114,000 accounts and close to 1 million impressions over the week with on-line tastings taking place in major cities such as London, Glasgow, Oslo, Stockholm and New York. Other Sherry events were also organised with key González Byass customers internationally in UK, USA, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Israel, Brazil, and Dominican Republic. These events included a prestigious “Sherry versus The World tasting at José Andrés’Jaleo restaurant in the USA, a bartenders workshop in Brazil hosted by Laercio Zulu and in Mexico the González Byass En Rama and Del Duque sherries helped to break the world record for the biggest Sherry tasting ever. International Sherry Week 2016 reached more sherry lovers than ever before and reinforces that the Sherry Revolution is happening now and it is happening in your market.
