TÍO PEPE IS MUCH MORE THAN JUST WINE.
IT’S A WAY OF LIFE.
A centuries-old legacy, born in Jerez.
Almost two centuries ago, in 1835, something began that would go on to change the world of wine forever. Manuel María González Ángel, a young visionary living in Jerez de la Frontera, decided to turn his personal passion into a lasting legacy. González Byass was born and, with it, one of the most iconic names in Sherry: Tío Pepe.
A flavour that conquered the world.
José Ángel y Vargas, our beloved Tío Pepe, turned his expertise and passion for Fino Sherry into something new, and truly extraordinary. Pale, dry and vibrant, this remarkable wine soon captured the imagination of discerning drinkers around the world. By 1844, Tío Pepe had already reached far beyond Spain’s borders, establishing itself as an ambassador for the Spanish way of life.
An icon made timeless with every passing day.
In 1935, the creative vision of Luis Pérez Solero created an indisputable icon, with his red jacket, traditional Andalusian hat and guitar. Illuminating Madrid’s Puerta del Sol, this distinctive figure soon became part of Spain’s collective imagination, carrying the spirit of Andalusia to every corner of the world.
A symbol that lit up Madrid.
In 1958, Tío Pepe shone down on Madrid’s Puerta del Sol like never before, from an iconic illuminated sign. Since then, this installation has become a symbol of the city, woven not only into the city’s urban landscape but also into the very fabric of Spanish culture.
Our tradition in its purest form.
In 2010, Tío Pepe En Rama was introduced as the utmost expression of our Fino. Drawn straight from the cask and left unfiltered, it preserves the authentic character of biological ageing, transporting the spirit of the bodega to every glass.
Our winery becomes the ultimate stage.
In 2012, music and culture found their home in Jerez with the creation of the Tío Pepe Festival. Every summer, internationally acclaimed artists bring our wineries to life, charging them with emotion and demonstrating that a real celebration means creating unforgettable shared experiences.
Tradition in constant reinvention.
Today, Tío Pepe is so much more than a wine. It is a way of life, a way of sharing the moment and a way of celebrating where we come from. Our story doesn’t belong in books, it belongs in a raised glass, shared with others and rewritten every single day.
Here’s to the future!
